Dr. Barbara Dasch
DVM, Medical Director
Dr. Dasch has been practicing veterinary medicine for over 10 years. She graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2012 and began her career as an intern veterinarian at a referral equine hospital in New England. Since then, Dr. Dasch has continued to gain extensive equine experience. She is also a member of the American Veterinary Medical Society. Prior to joining the team at Latham Animal Hospital, she worked at a mixed animal veterinarian in Upstate New York. Dr. Dasch provides excellent patient care and prides herself on attention to detail. She prioritizes patient comfort and can often be seen examining pets on the floor to ensure a positive patient visit experience.
Dr. Dasch grew up riding horses in Brooklyn, New York and has loved animals of all sizes since she was a child. She is grateful for and devoted to the Latham Animal Hospital clients and provides great support for the Latham team. In her spare time, Dr. Dasch enjoys spending time with her family and her animals.

Dr. M. Kathleen Shaw
DVM
Dr. Shaw has 25 years of experience practicing veterinary medicine. She attended Cornell University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and received her doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Shaw has a special interest in feline medicine, surgery, and client education. She strives to provide the best quality medicine and surgery for her patients and clients and ensure that clients have the information they need to partner in their pet’s healthcare. Outside of general practice, Dr. Shaw has worked in public relations for the Vermont State Veterinary Medical Association, writing press releases on veterinary topics.
She has lived in Vermont her entire life. She enjoys hiking, kayaking, cross-country skiing, reading, playing piano, volunteering for various organizations, and spoiling her five cats (Myrtle, Rumpleteezer, Pippi, Nutmeg, and Miss Marbles). Dr. Shaw also loves giving belly scratches to the clinic’s canine clients.
Accreditations: Certified by the American Association of Feline Practitioners as a Cat-Friendly Veterinarian; Member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners; Member of the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Calla Kinne
Veterinarian
Dr. Kinne’s pre-veterinary school interest in veterinary medicine developed growing up in rural Columbia County, New York. The county was full of farm and companion animals, and her first jobs involved working with animals, particularly dogs, cats, and horses. Her undergraduate work was done at the University of Vermont, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Sciences. From there, she continued on to Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
Prior to becoming a shareholder at Colonie Animal Hospital in 1997, she worked for a very busy small animal practice in the Capital District and did several years of work as a relief veterinarian.
In practice, she enjoys treating and interacting with her dog and cat patients. She particularly enjoys small animal internal medicine and challenging feline patients. Learning about different modalities of pain control is a new and growing interest.
When not working, she likes to spend time with family, especially her two sons, Jacob and Benjamin, her scruffy Border Terrier, Bob, and her comical and independent cat, Libby. She loves cycling both on the road and on the trails, hiking, cooking, knitting, and spending time with friends.

Erica R
Veterinary Technician
Erica’s love for horses and getting to heal and nurture them is what brought her into the veterinary field. She thought she would spend her life working with large animals. However, she chose Latham Animal Hospital when recruited by an associate vet in July 2019. She accepted the LVT position after her meet and greet with the Latham staff. Her favorite part of the job is nurturing sick patients and watching them leave feeling better. She of course must snuggle all the puppies that come in.
Erica loves horseback riding on her free time. She also enjoys making bread, cooking, gardening, tending to her chickens and ducks, and spending time with family (including her fur babies). Daisy is a Tree Walker Coonhound/Pit Mix who also loves to snuggle. She has a rare genetic condition called Prophyria. Blackberry is a Lab/Spaniel mix that demands Daisy’s attention 24/7 and is just a happy dog. Erica has 6 ducks, two of which are named by her daughter; “Marshmellow” and “Pinneaple”.

Kristin L
Lead Veterinary Assistant
Kristin joined Vet Med because she wanted to help animals as well as be an advocate for them. She joined Latham Animal Hospital in December of 2018 after working in veterinary emergency medicine for 15 years. Kristin loves encountering the puppies and kittens but her favorite part is watching them grow through the years and becoming a part of our Latham Animal Hospital family. She loves being able to nurture sick patients back to health and feels a sense of accomplishment when they back to themselves. She also enjoys working with her coworkers and considers us “fun”. Kristin has a 4 year old Boxer/PitMix named Rava who lives to run and play. Her 12 year old Dachshund Rambo loves to snuggle and burrow in the blankets.

Maggie d-M
Lead CSR – Receptionist
Maggie has been a part of our team since August 31, 2021. Maggie applied to Latham Animal Hospital in hopes to gain more knowledge about animal care and specifically to learn more about taking care of her kitty that had a chronic illness. She also felt that through gaining experience at an animal hospital, she could empower owners to provide the best care for their furry loved ones. She loves encountering clients that have a deep love for their pets, sharing stories with them and helping them through difficult times. Maggie has since developed a strong bond with the staff and considers them her work family. Outside of work Maggie loves to read, hike and sitting on a beach while catching some rays. Maggie has a dog that identifies as a cat and has 5 kitty roommates.

Kumarie P
CSR – Receptionist
Kumarie joined the veterinary field because of her love for animals. She especially loves the puppies and kittens’ part of the job, however she also loves sharing her knowledge of animal husbandry with our clients so they can make informed decisions about their fur babies. Kumarie was a Colonie Animal Hospital original that came to Latham when both clinics merged together. Some of her hobbies include reading, watching tv and relaxing with her kitty cats. Her cat Beebles, can usually be found sitting in a cardboard box or pawing at door handles asking to come in or go out. Her cat Gary enjoys nibbling on human toes and has graduated from door handles to the refrigerator and cabinets. He will also just sit in the middle of the kitchen and sing his little heart out.
